The Houston Texans have a strong case for selecting C.J. Stroud’s offensive support with the 23rd choice in the next NFL Draft. Although Stroud’s main targets, Dalton Schultz and Noah Brown, are set to hit free agency, the Texans may consider adding a pass catcher to their offensive arsenal. But with cornerbacks Steven Nelson, Tavierre Thomas, and Kris Boyd set to hit free agency, the Texans also need to address other pressing defensive concerns, particularly in pass defence.
Additionally, NFL.com analyst Eric Edholm projects that the Texans will use their first-round pick to draft Clemson Tigers cornerback Nate Wiggins, giving Houston an athletic and tall alternative to Derek Stingley Jr. “There’s a strong case for using this selection to upgrade the talent around C.J. Stroud on offence, but the Texans also have some pressing defensive needs to consider,” Edhold stated. “CB Steven Nelson will soon be a free agent. Wiggins would provide Derek Stingley Jr. in Houston with a lengthy, athletically gifted complement.” With the Tigers, the former standout player from Clemson concluded his career with 60 tackles (49 solo), three tackles for loss, one sack, three interceptions, and twenty-one passes defensed.
