The No. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft was acquired by the Chicago Bears, who traded it to centre their roster around quarterback Justin Fields. A year later, Fields and the first pick in the 2024 NFL Draft present a comparable decision for the Bears front management.
Chicago sent wide receiver D.J. Moore, the ninth overall and 61st overall pick in 2023, a 2024 first-round selection, and a 2025 second-round selection to the Carolina Panthers in March 2023 in exchange for the No. 1 overall pick. In the year 2024, Carolina’s selection became the first pick in the NFL Draft.
This past season, Fields showed that he had a solid relationship with Moore as a passer. Chicago has also shown a great deal of faith in Fields, their young signal-caller, saying they think he can lead the team. Ryan Pace, the general manager, has a difficult choice to make.
The Bears’ locker room supports Fields, but starting over at quarterback is the best course of action for an NFL team. Fields’ big contract is about to expire, but a quarterback selected with the top choice would have five seasons of team control.
