Houston — The Houston Texans’ steel blue uniforms have become iconic with the franchise since its inception in 2002. The Texans will, however, wear new uniforms in the 2024 offseason.
According to Texans TV host Drew Dougherty, the team expects to unveil its new uniforms during the week of the 2024 NFL Draft in April. Their new jerseys will include H-Town Blue in all four kits, paying homage to the Houston Oilers.
The H-Town Blue has been associated with Houston since the Oilers became an NFL franchise in 1960, and they served as the city’s initial team for nearly 30 years. The Oilers moved to Tennessee in 1997. Despite rebranding as the Titans, the franchise retained the Oilers’ name and team branding.
The Titans wore Oilers clothes twice this season, including against the Texans on December 17. Fortunately for Houston, the Texans won in overtime at Nissan Stadium during Week 15.
“Those are some sweet colours,” Devin Singletary said. “For us, it was simple: come out and win. We’ll see those men again in two weeks. That is what it was.
The colours and uniforms associated with the Texans will represent a fresh appearance for the franchise. However, Dougherty says the team’s logo will not alter. The Texans’ 45-14 Wild Card victory over the Cleveland Browns could have been their last time wearing their steel blue suits.
Singletary finished the game with 66 yards on 13 carries. C.J. Stroud threw for 274 yards and three touchdowns, making him the youngest starting quarterback in league history to win a playoff game.
