ESPN TRADE REPORT- DONE DEAL: Rangers have Completed the signing of Former Outfielder as a Pitcher

So do you remember D.J. Peters? The Texas Rangers claimed an outfielder on waivers in 2021, who hit some home runs, stole some bases, made some good outfield plays, and had a 68:4 K:BB ratio, resulting in a.218 OBP.

Well, after spending 2022 largely in the KBO, he came to the United States in 2023, signed with the Detroit Tigers, and pitched for their Rookie League team in 2023.

Rangers outfielder DJ Peters headed to Korea, agrees to contract with Lotte Giants

He wasn’t particularly successful — he walked 27 batters and struck out 24 in 21.2 innings — but after failing as an outfielder, he’s decided to remain with throwing.

And he will do so in the near future with the Texas Rangers, who have signed Peters to a minor league contract, per reports. He will most likely receive a shot in spring training and at some point in the minor levels as a relief pitcher. He’s right-handed and throws hard, so we’ll see how this goes.
