Many Michigan Wolverines fans became concerned when rumours of Jim Harbaugh’s departure began to circulate. A coaching change in college football can hurt a school because players leave once the coach who recruited them departs. However, this has not happened as of yet. Bleacher Report’s Brad Shepard labelled the Wolverines one of the big winners of National Signing Day.

There is still time for players to make their decisions, but as of yet, only two players have left the program due to Harbaugh’s departure. The only two players that have left are reserve defensive lineman Reece Atteberry and offensive lineman Noah Stewart. These aren’t severe losses. Recruits have not decommitted either. According to 247, Michigan will remain the 16th-ranked class in 2024. Most notably, four-star quarterback Jadyn Davis appears to be staying.
Hiring Sherrone Moore was a huge success. It maintains continuity within the staff, and many of the players rallied behind Moore after Harbaugh was suspended for three games. Wink Martindale is supposedly the new defensive coordinator, with NFL experience and contacts. Those who hoped for Michigan’s demise have yet to see it, and it may never happen.
Can the Michigan Wolverines win their fourth consecutive Big Ten title? It will be a difficult challenge, since the schedule includes games against Texas, USC, Oregon, and Ohio State. However, don’t underestimate this team. They might surprise some folks in 2024.
