ESPN BREAKING NEWS: Texans QB C.J. Stroud issues a Drastic Update on his Future After Disrespect Moment

The San Francisco 49ers are one day away from facing the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII.

And, despite what some fans and commentators may believe, the Niners’ trip to Las Vegas was mostly thanks to the play of Brock Purdy, their second-year quarterback.

Over the last two seasons, many have labelled the erstwhile Mr. Irrelevant as overrated or a game manager, attributing the majority of the team’s success to the elite roster that surrounds him.

However, in a recent interview prior of the big game, Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud gave his opinions about Purdy and why he is weary of those notions.
“I don’t like how people treat Purdy,” Stroud explained. “I believe Purdy is a great player. I was watching a Purdy highlights video on the bus today… Most of them were excellent throws… There is nothing basic about being an NFL quarterback. Let’s be clear: nothing is easy. I don’t care whether they appear open.”

Purdy may not have the flare and perceived ‘big play’ ability of Lamar Jackson or Dak Prescott, but he did put up impressive stats in the 2023 regular season.

Purdy placed seventh in the NFL in passing yards (4,280), fourth in completing percentage (69.4), third in touchdowns (31), and first in QBR (72.7), all of which were superior than MVP Jackson and his Super Bowl adversary Patrick Mahomes.

However, Stroud does not need to look at the figures to understand how excellent Purdy has been, pointing out how difficult it is to do what he has been doing regularly as an NFL quarterback.

“I don’t think you can play at a high level like he is, and just be average,” he remarked. “That simply doesn’t happen. Do I believe he is on a fantastic team? Yes, he does have a team of dogs. That club should play in the Super Bowl… You need to be someone who can lead the locker room. There are a lot of things that people don’t see, but I know he’s doing because they’re winning football games.

Purdy, in only his second season in the NFL, will meet Mahomes on Sunday in the hopes of capturing his first Super Bowl – something else about the quarterback that is anything but average.
