BREAKING NEWS: ESPN’s insider reveals that a free agent forward had repeatedly agreed to a 10-day contract with the Toronto Raptors.

The Toronto Raptors and free agency forward Justise Winslow have reached an agreement for a 10-day deal, according to a report published on Saturday by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. After being acquired from the LA Clippers in the transaction that brought Norman Powell and Robert Covington to LA, Winslow played his final NBA season for the Portland Trail Blazers, appearing in 40 games over the course of the previous two seasons.

Although Winslow was drafted by the Miami Heat in 2015 with the 10th overall pick, he never lived up to the hype as a lottery pick and has nonetheless been a reliable rotation player for various strong teams. In 2018–19, Winslow had his greatest season as a Miami Heat player, appearing in 66 games and starting 52 of them. In 29.7 minutes per game that year, Winslow averaged a career-high 12.6 PPG in addition to 5.4 RPG and 4.3 APG. Winslow hasn’t been able to replicate his 2018–19 season performance due in large part to injuries, but he has occasionally displayed promising play in the last several seasons. With the 10-day window open, Winslow may be able to demonstrate his continued abilities and even secure a more permanent NBA position with the Raptors. It can’t hurt to look at a player like Winslow, who has been with the Raptors’ G-League squad, given they are far from a playoff place.
