BLOCKBUSTER TRADE: Commanders to pay Crazy Amount to Hijack Bears and Other Top NFL to Land Sensational QB

The Washington Commanders are preparing for a major offseason, with significant changes ongoing to improve their place in the NFL.

After finishing last in the NFC East with only four wins in 2023, second only to the Carolina Panthers, the off-field changes continued. Following Ron Rivera’s departure, new owners led by Josh Harris have begun to put their stamp on the organization, hiring a new general manager and head coach.

The Commanders are also likely to make a quarterback change, with Caleb Williams, the top quarterback prospect in the NFL Draft, being a potential candidate. The USC star is expected to be the first choice in the 2024 draft, but Washington will pick second. To obtain Williams, they will most likely have to climb their way to the top slot.

Chicago Bears may keep Justin Fields — and draft Caleb Williams

According to an NFL.com insider, the Commanders may have to pay a “crazy” price to persuade the Chicago Bears to give up their right to the first overall pick. If the Bears decide to go with former Heisman Trophy winner Williams, it’s probable they’ll be willing to trade Justin Fields to the highest bidder in a potentially competitive market.
Williams is expected to be the first overall choice, but the true drama rests in whether Chicago makes the pick or trades it to a quarterback-hungry team. The Bears acquired this pick in a large trade with the Panthers last season.

The Commanders are hoping that their new coaching staff will make them an appealing choice for Williams. He collaborated closely with NEW offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, the Arizona Cardinals’ head coach for three years, at USC last season, where he was quarterbacks coach and senior offensive analyst.

Williams was thrilled with the Commander’s choice to hire Kingsbury. “My dawg congrats,” Williams said on Instagram Stories, beside an ESPN mock-up photo of Kingsbury, who was on his way to the Las Vegas Raiders until bowing out of discussions, dressed in Commanders apparel.
Washington was the final team to appoint a new head coach for 2024, bringing in Dan Quinn to replace Rivera. After three years as the Dallas Cowboys’ defensive coordinator, the former Atlanta Falcons head coach is given his second chance to manage a team. “I am thrilled for the opportunity to become the next head coach of such a storied franchise and fanbase,” he stated.
