Commanders Blockbuster Trade: Washington Commanders Blockbuster Trade Agreement to Land Kansas Chiefs All-Pro Top Star

Despite winning the Super Bowl, the Kansas City Chiefs face a critical decision with Chris Jones. Jones made it known last offseason that he wanted a new contract, and while that resulted in a short-term remedy, the Chiefs will most certainly have to decide his future this offseason. Jonathan Allen, who is under contract with the Washington Commanders for 2024 and 2025, is one of the probable alternatives.

While their defence, which allowed more than 30 points per game, should be improved, the Commanders have less expensive choices to consider. The Chiefs are in a win-now situation and could consider trading options for Allen. Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report proposes a trade in which the Commanders receive a second and third-round pick in 2024. The Chiefs would acquire Allen as part of this agreement.

According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, with Jones not nearing an agreement, looking for potential replacements may be in the Kansas City Chiefs’ best interests.

Jones isn’t exactly replaceable, having contributed significantly to the Chiefs’ three Super Bowl victories. Outside of what he contributes from that standpoint, he recorded 10.5 sacks in 2023 and 15.5 in 2022. Jones was chosen All-Pro for the fourth consecutive season this year. The former Washington Commanders first-round pick recorded 5.5 sacks in 2023 and 7.5 in 2022.

Florio went on to clarify the problem further.

Jonathan Allen has shown his frustration with the commanders.
Given some of Allen’s previous comments, it’s not unexpected to see him included in trade rumours this offseason.

Allen said the following after the Washington Commanders’ loss to the New York Giants on October 22, 2023, according to Nicki Jhabvala of the Washington Post.

“(Expletive), yes it does,” Allen answered. “I am (expletive) tired of this (expletive). (Expletive) sick of this (expletive). It has been seven years of the same (crap). I’m tired of this (crap).”

Allen is expected to earn $14 million in 2024 and $15.5 million in 2025 for the Commanders, according to Spotrac.

Jones is expected to sign a three-year contract worth $85.4 million, according to Spotrac’s market value calculator.

A hypothetical Chiefs and Commanders deal might benefit both sides, as Allen is less expensive and the Commanders would receive more draft money to build in this year’s draft.
