Six 2024 All-Stars (Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers, Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks, Damian Lillard of the Milwaukee Bucks, Donovan Mitchell of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Karl-Anthony Towns of the Timberwolves, and Malik Beasley of the Milwaukee Bucks), one 2023 All-Star (Utah Jazz big man Lauri Markkanen), and one non-All-Star (Malik Beasley of the Milwaukee Bucks) will attempt as many triples as they can in 70 seconds from spots beyond the arc on Saturday in Indianapolis.
This has become the highest-wattage event of the All-Star weekend.
Beasley makes up for his lack of All-Star strength with accuracy. This season, he has drilled 44.9% of his long balls, ranking seventh in the NBA and having the highest clip of all 2024 Starry 3-Point Contestants. Young trails just Stephen Curry and Luka Dončić in the league in terms of total three-pointers made. The top 25 players include Beasley, Lillard, Mitchell, Markkanen, Brunson, and Haliburton.
Towns, who is shooting a career-best 43.6% from distance this season in Minnesota, is last in the group in terms of total makes. When Cleveland hosted the NBA All-Star festivities two years ago, Towns emerged victorious in this tournament, and he will be attempting to hold onto his title.
