TRADE UPDATE: Phillies agree to a blockbuster contract with Ex-Rockies All-Star

Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that outfielder David Dahl and the Philadelphia Phillies have reached an agreement on a minor-league contract. With the Colorado Rockies, Dahl made his Major League Baseball debut in 2016. In 2019, he was selected for the National League All-Star squad.
Dahl will have the opportunity to join the Phillies major league team following spring training. But during the last two seasons, he has only appeared in four MLB games overall. Dahl was a player with the San Diego Padres in 2023, making nine plate appearances while hitting.111 with a.556 OPS.
Dahl is still only 29 years old, despite this. From the left side of the plate, he has decent contact skills and might be a useful depth piece for Philadelphia.

Phillies 2024 outfield projections
Most of the Phillies outfield is already decided. Johan Rojas and Christian Pache should also see action, although Brandon Marsh and Nick Castellanos will start. If he gets enough at-bats, Pache could be poised for a breakout season.

It should be mentioned that on Friday, Philadelphia and utility guy Whit Merrifield reached an agreement on a contract. With his ability to play both second base and outfield, Merrifield may be a viable alternative in addition to Pache, Rojas, Castellanos, and Marsh.
