Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Parade Shooting Suspects Charged
According to a news release from Jackson County Family Court, the minors were charged on Thursday and are currently being housed at the county’s Juvenile Detention Centre. They are jailed on “gun-related and resisting arrest charges,” with “additional charges” expected as the investigation continues.
The suspects have yet to be identified, and no specific information about the case has been made public. This is hardly surprising given that Missouri law generally requires juvenile court cases to be kept private and confidential. Not to mention that the hearings are not open to the public, as ESPN reported.
In a subsequent statement, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker committed to maintain tight communication with authorities as the investigation into the incident proceeds.
“We deal with juvenile court officers on a regular basis, and we did the same with this case. Although we do not control or supervise the juvenile cops, we collaborate closely with them,” Baker explained.
“We expect to attend future hearings in Family Court involving the individuals charged today.” We will continue to collaborate fully with the authorities as the investigation progresses. We appreciate the engagement and partnership of these juvenile cops. And we will continue to cooperate closely with the police investigation team in charge of this terrible incident.”
