TRADE NEWS:What Kelly Olynyk said about playing for the Utah Jazz after trade to the Toronto Raptors

Kelly Olynyk is back in Canada after being dealt from the Utah Jazz to the Toronto Raptors last week before the NBA’s trade deadline, but on Tuesday night, he wrote a thank you note to the Beehive State on social media.

“Thank you, Utah,” Olynyk responded. “Playing in Utah is definitely wonderful. The supporters at the Delta Centre are among the most enthusiastic in the league, and I am grateful to you for welcoming me with open arms.

“I feel lucky to have played for such a world-class organization from top to bottom, and my time with the Jazz has left an indelible effect. To my colleagues, coaches, trainers, staff, and everyone else, thank you from the bottom of my heart.”Olynyk, 32, joined the Utah Jazz from the Detroit Pistons in 2022 as part of the Bojan Bogdanovic trade.

The skillful big man appeared in 118 games for the Jazz, including 76 starts. In two games with the Raptors, he has played 43 minutes off the bench, scoring 28 points, 11 rebounds, six steals, and five assists in two Toronto losses.Olynyk was traded for second-year wing Ochai Agbaji, who has played 37 minutes off the bench for the Raptors and has 10 points, four rebounds, a steal, and an assist.

Kira Lewis Jr. and Otto Porter Jr., the players Utah acquired from Toronto in the trade, have yet to play a game for the Jazz.

Utah also received a 2024 first-round draft selection from the Raptors in the transaction.
