Deshaun Watson’s turbulent season with the Cleveland Browns came to an end in November of last year when the three-time Pro Bowl quarterback sustained a season-ending shoulder injury. Watson had to have surgery to fix the problem, which kept him out of commission for a long time.
The 28-year-old, on the other hand, is making progress on his recuperation, hoping to be fully fit for the start of the new season.
Critical Health Update on Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson
According to team source Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, Watson will take a crucial step in his rehabilitation next month:
“Watson, who underwent surgery Nov. 21 to repair his fractured right shoulder socket, is set to begin throwing in March — as soon as a couple of weeks from now — which is a great sign for his participation at least on a limited basis in the Browns’ offseason beginning April 15,” Cabot said in a statement.
While there is no set date for Watson’s return to action, there is little doubt that this is a huge step in the right direction for the star quarterback. As of now, all signs point to the former Clemson standout being ready for the Browns’ season opener in 2024-25.
Browns receiver Elijah Moore Excited to get his quarterback back.
Browns wide receiver Elijah Moore, who is projected to be one of Watson’s most key weapons this season, said he recently chatted with Watson. Moore highlighted how much the entire team looks forward to having their quarterback back:
“I was just talking to him a couple of days ago,” Moore told Cleveland.com from radio row during Super Bowl week in Las Vegas. “I believe he is currently in the process of regaining his health. Everyone is praying for him and making sure everything goes well. But I suppose everyone is waiting. I guess everyone is itching a little. I didn’t get a full opportunity to discuss it with him, so this just provides us more time.”
“… I cannot wait. As soon as he gets the green light, whatever his procedure is, I believe everyone will be where he is, or we will all link.”
Browns supporters are hopeful that Watson can stay healthy in 2024-25. In his first two seasons with Cleveland, the former first-round pick appeared in only 12 games.
