The NFL finished the Super Bowl last week, and the NFL Scouting Combine begins next week. I’ll be travelling to the Combine this week, but there hasn’t been much news from the league this week, which is fine with me.
I enjoy the brief pause in the action. I was able to take one day off, my first since July, because the NFL is currently experiencing a sluggish period.
I also enjoy reflecting on life and sports while driving my ancient Jeep Wrangler TJ with the top down! The following is the consequence of such weekly trips:.

Are the Steelers blocking the Broncos?
Nobody yet knows what will happen to Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields. The Bears have Fields, a former first-round pick who has yet to completely develop, as well as the 11th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. That pick is almost certainly going to be used on USC quarterback Caleb Williams; we simply don’t know whether the Bears or another team will make the selection.
The Bears’ decision to move on from the pick (maybe with the Broncos?) is determined by what they think of Fields—or what they can acquire in exchange for him. There have been reports that Chicago will not trade Fields (since that is what they have said), but there has recently been talk that he may end up in Pittsburgh.
The Steelers’ head coach, Mike Tomlin, is apparently a big supporter of Fields, and the Steelers should be searching for an upgrade over Kenny Pickett. Fields might bring the Bears a first-round selection in exchange, which is a price tag Chicago may not refuse. Before we know what the Broncos will do, we need to see moves like Fields.
