Auburn’s recent basketball success has aided Coach Pearl and his coaching staff in attracting some five- and four-star recruits.
Auburn’s 2024 recruiting class includes five-star point guard Tahaad Pettiford and four-star shooting guard Jahki Howard. Coach Pearl is now focusing on the 2025 recruiting class, and the Tigers are seeking for some of the best athletes available.
AJ Dybantsa is widely regarded as the 2025 class’s best overall player. If the 6’9, 185-pound guard/forward hybrid elected to play collegiate basketball on the Plains, he would be Auburn’s highest-ranked recruit in history. Dybantsa will pay Coach Pearl a visit in early March, giving him the opportunity to sell his vision for Dybantsa and his role with the Auburn Tigers. According to On3’s recruiting prediction algorithm, Auburn has a 46.7% chance of landing the top player in the 2025 class. The next closest school, USC, has a 40.9% probability.
Dybantsa had this to say about Coach Pearl: “I am trying to be a guard, and Bruce Pearl produces a lot of guards for the NBA, so I am going to take a visit there and see how it goes,” Dybantsa stated in an interview. “He’s a tough coach, but I can handle it. I know a couple of folks who have committed, and they are on their way there right now.”
Dybantsa appears to be a one-and-done player who will most likely be drafted in the top five.
