BREAKING NEWS: Tigers Head Coach Brian Kelly Breaks Silence Over Sec Fine on LSU Tigers After Upsetting The Kentucky

The Southeastern Conference fined LSU $100,000 for fans running onto the court following the Tigers’ win over No. 17 Kentucky, the league announced Thursday.
Tyrell Ward’s shot as time expired gave LSU a 75-74 victory on Wednesday night, sparking the court-storming.

The safety dangers involved with court-storming have garnered increased attention this season after Iowa star Caitlin Clark clashed with a fan while departing the floor at Ohio State after the Buckeyes defeated the Hawkeyes.
The SEC penalized LSU under its amended access to competition area rules. According to the rules, access to playing fields is always confined to athletes, coaches, officials, support workers, and fully credentialed or authorized individuals.

“For the safety of participants and spectators alike, at no time before, during or after a contest may spectators enter the competition area,” the statement reads.

The fines are $100,000 for the first offence, $250,000 for the second offence, and $500,000 for the third and subsequent offences.
