Michael Badgley, a former Los Angeles Chargers kicker, is returning to the Detroit Lions on a one-year contract. He spent the 2023 season with Detroit but will now return with the goal of emulating the team’s success.
He appeared in only four games last season, but he made all four field goal tries. In addition, the veteran went 13-15 on extra points. Detroit used Badgley in all three playoff games this season. He added some playoff experience to his resume, building on the two playoff games he played with the Chargers in 2018. Badgley played with the Bolts for several years, eventually becoming their starting kicker. He was a member of the team from 2018 to 2021, winning a position in the league.
He has since moved around the NFL, joining the Tennessee Titans twice, the Chicago Bears, and the Washington Commanders. Badgley has been with Detroit twice before, but he is now permanently on the roster. Badgley has played 64 games in his career and has a field goal percentage of 98-119. He has made 168 of 175 extra-point attempts in his career, demonstrating that he is a consistent kicker when active. We wish him only the best of luck in Detroit next season!
