DEAL AGREED: Auburn Tigers Have Reached in Agreement to Sign Jaylin Williams Replacement Following His Injury Crisis

Auburn Tigers star forward Jaylin Williams suffered a knee injury during a game against the Kentucky Wildcats.

This knee injury appeared to be more serious than it turned out to be, as surgery was not required, but Williams would lose some time. Auburn must end the season strong in SEC play to ensure a double bye in the SEC Tournament and a good seed in the NCAA Tournament. This means that as Williams recovers and prepares for the postseason, or whenever he is ready to return, someone must step up.

Chaney Johnson, a division two transfer, is the most likely candidate for the “someone” role. The 6’7 G/F duo plays 14.7 minutes per game and averages 3.8 points. With Williams out of the lineup, Johnson will play a lot more minutes, which should boost his confidence. Johnson had a great game against the Florida Gators, scoring nine points in 17 minutes and shooting 3-4 from the field.

When Johnson decided to move to Auburn, Coach Pearl stated, “Chaney’s journey is the perfect example of the great American dream.” He graduates from Thompson High School, attends UAH to play for John Shulman, grows four inches, leads his team to a conference championship, is named player of the year three times, and is now eligible to play in the SEC at Auburn.
