BREAKING NEWS: Twins owner finally decided to sign one of the top right-handed fielders to…

According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Twins are one of four finalists to sign free agency utilityman Kike Hernandez.

Hernandez, 32, has a career.During his 10-year Major League Baseball career, he had 239 hits, 108 home runs, and 393 RBI. The Los Angeles Angels, San Diego Padres, and San Francisco Giants are also reportedly interested in signing the utilityman, according to Rosenthal.

Hernandez had double hernia surgery on October 24, which undoubtedly contributed to some of his troubles last season.

Hernandez was transferred to the Los Angeles Dodgers after hitting only.222 with the Boston Red Sox. He improved his performance, hitting.262 in 54 games and going 3 for 8 in three postseason games.

Hernandez may provide significant depth for the Twins, particularly in the outfield, where Minnesota lacks many right-handed hitters. And, given Byron Buxton’s lengthy injury history, he would be a good alternative to fill in at centre field if Buxton is sidelined for an extended period of time.
