Following Auburn’s convincing victory over the Bulldogs, what was the head coach of the Tigers thinking?
The No. 14 Auburn Tigers defeated the Georgia Bulldogs 97-76 on the road in a convincing fashion.
Following the game, what was Bruce Pearl’s reaction as the head coach of Auburn?
“We had a great victory,” Pearl remarked. “Georgia’s performance has been excellent. There was a significant reward on the line, and Mike (White) still has them playing at an extremely high level.”
Pearl discussed how Auburn had to change its strategy to play without Jaylin Williams.
“Coming in without Jaylin Williams, we had to change some things up,” Pearl explained. Thus, we started with three different players in the lineup. Chad Baker-Mazara, who is the starting point guard, was the best player on the court this evening. Without a doubt, he was the best player in the game tonight. trusted him to be the playmaker with the ball in his hands. He obviously makes baskets, draws fouls, and converts free throws. Of the 16 free throws we had tonight, he made seven of them. created them all.”
Pearl mentioned how Aden Holloway had overcome setbacks and had a strong game.
“We started Aden Holloway, just to see if we could kind of get him going,” Pearl explained. “On that, two points: First of all, Aden is the hardest person on himself. Aden is among the nation’s top rookie point guards. Yes, he is. When a young guy consistently performs poorly and shoots poorly, it can cause him to lose confidence. You’re disappointing a lot of people by spending so much time on social media. There’s no one more let down than Aden.”
To his credit, he has continued to work out. Despite his lack of achievement, he has maintained a really pleasant attitude. He was fine, and the squad was still winning without him. It says a lot about the man he is. He remained inside it. He remained inside it. It would be extremely beneficial if we could place him in an environment where he feels more confident in himself.”
Pearl spoke of his admiration for Mike White, the head coach of Georgia.
“We really respect Mike’s ability as an offensive coach,” Pearl stated. “We simply didn’t want to stop Georgia’s excellent man-to-man offence in many situations. Simply put, we won’t be watching over it. It’s difficult to guard, or you can’t guard it. They were off balance thanks to the zone.”
Auburn will play its first game back on the road on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. CT against the No. 5 Tennessee Volunteers. The Auburn Sports Network broadcast is available for streaming anywhere on the Auburn Athletics app, while the ESPN2 broadcast is available for viewing.
