NEWSNOW: Saints Have Confirm a New Contract to Key Defender After Team Restructuring and Salary Cup

The New Orleans Saints had a poor season, failing to meet expectations after signing veteran quarterback Derek Carr as the team’s new franchise quarterback.

Despite winning their last two games, the Saints fell short of earning the NFC South division title and were unable to punch their ticket to the NFL playoffs, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers advancing instead.
With the Saints needing to make a few changes during the NFL offseason to right the ship for the 2024 season, the organization has been working hard to free up as much cap room as possible by restructuring contracts.

Saints free agent report card: Was Nathan Shepherd a good signing?

According to Field Yates of ESPN, the Saints have modified defensive tackle Nathan Shepherd’s contract, giving the team an additional $3 million this offseason.
As Yates pointed out, New Orleans created $33 million in cap space this week, allowing the Saints to be more aggressive in NFL free agency and improve their roster for next season.

With the NFC South being a highly winnable division, New Orleans has a chance to make the playoffs and compete for the Super Bowl if they make the appropriate moves to enhance their roster this summer.
Only time will tell if the Saints can be postseason contenders in the future, as New Orleans will have the opportunity to strengthen its roster and once again be a force to be reckoned with in the NFC.
