BREAKING NEWS: Pacer Former Shooting Guard with 5 triple-doubles Has Resolve to a Sensational Return to Pacer

In a recent interview, former NBA player and current G League guard Lance Stephenson voiced his desire to return to the league.

Coming into the G League, I wanted to help the young players improve. Show them what I learnt as a vet. Trying to show them the ropes, explain them what it’s like, show them how to play defence, how to get to the hole, and understand the game as soon as possible. But my goal is to be back on par with NBA teams. I’m truly going hard, wanting to win games and have fun out there.

Stephenson is currently a member of the Iowa Wolves’ G League roster. In 18 games, Stephenson has averaged 14.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 5.1 assists.

Stephenson spent portions of ten seasons with various clubs, most notably the Indiana Pacers for three different stints. Stephenson now has an NBA career average of 8.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game.

The 33-year-old last appeared in the NBA with the Pacers in 2022.

Could Lance Stephenson Really Return to the NBA?
Stephenson is putting up impressive statistics in the G League. However, he is not the same person as ten years ago. Stephenson has not played a consistent role for an NBA team since his time with the Pacers in 2017-18. The Brooklyn native never truly found his shot, and his athleticism has gradually deteriorated over time. However, Stephenson has been around the game for a long time and is still capable of playing at a high level. Stephenson believes he still has more to give NBA teams:

If you could speak with NBA teams right now, what would you tell them about what you could do to their team? Lance Stevenson: Leadership. Definitely, helping young men. Winning mentality is only the advantage on the defensive end. A lot of teams need defensive aid, especially during the playoffs. Tough individuals capable of playing defence, locking down, and winning games. I can provide any edge that a coach requires.
When asked about which teams could make Stephenson’s ambition of returning to the NBA a reality, the guard mentioned two organizations he would be interested in playing for seven months ago:

“I believe it’s time for a New York team. “I want to play for the [Brooklyn] Nets or the Knicks; either one will do,” he stated.

This was mentioned before Stephenson inked a contract to play with the Timberwolves’ G League club. Stephenson played six games for Minnesota in 2017. If the Timberwolves need an additional seasoned presence, a return to the main roster may make sense.

The Final Word on Lance Stephenson
Overall, the G Leaguer could return to the NBA. It will be intriguing to see if Stephenson can secure a spot on an NBA roster by the end of the season.
