BREAKING NEWS: Texans GM Nick Caserio Gives Texans Fans Update on $141 Million Blockbuster For Linebacker This Offseason

Last season, the Houston Texans surprised everyone by winning the AFC South after finishing last the previous year. To keep the momentum going, the front staff should consider signing Khalil Mack, a $141 million linebacker with a lot of potential for the franchise.

Despite having low expectations for the Texans this season, the club exceeded them all because to C.J. Stroud’s outstanding performance. This is the first time they have achieved a winning record and qualified for the playoffs since 2019.

Chargers news: Multiple teams interested in trading for Khalil Mack
C.J. Stroud and DeMarco Ryans, the team’s quarterback and head coach, led the way as rookies. Houston became the fifth club in NFL history to reach the playoffs with a first-year coach and quarterback.

The two were put to the test in the wild card round against the Cleveland Browns, and the Texans surprised everyone when they eliminated them. Even though they lost to the Baltimore Ravens in the following round, many people had already recognized their tremendous run.

Why Khalil Mack is a perfect fit for the Houston Texans next season.

Houston Texans, Khalil Mack, Los Angeles Chargers
The Los Angeles Chargers have the option of keeping Mack on the roster, even if it would be damaging to their cap space. ESPN’s Aaron Schatz outlines why Houston is a better match for the linebacker next season:

“Mack, who recently turned 33, had 17 sacks for the Chargers last season and is expected to sign a large contract. He has a $38.5 million cap number, and the Chargers are about $46 million above the limit in 2024. Trading Mack before June 1 would save them more than $23 million in cap space. In contrast, the Texans have a cap space of $57 million. With primary edge rusher Jonathan Greenard set to enter free agency, they also have the space to bring Mack in. Consider Mack playing against Will Anderson Jr., with opponents only able to double-team one of them. “It probably wouldn’t cost the Texans a high draft pick while adding a significant piece to their defence,” Schatz wrote.
