The Atlanta Falcons have the eighth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, and ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. is lobbying them to take Alabama footballer Dallas Turner.
On “First Draft” alongside ESPN colleague Field Yates on Monday, Kiper addressed the talk about Michigan quarterback JJ McCarthy potentially jumping into the top ten by arguing that Atlanta should instead target the Alabama football star:
“It is always enticing. As previously said, will you reach for J.J. McCarthy? “I’m not if I’m the Giants or Atlanta,” Kiper Jr. stated.
How does this relate to Alabama football? Here’s what Kiper believes the Falcons should do:.
“Try to move up. If you can move up and grab Caleb (Williams), Jayden (Daniels), or Drake (Maye), I would be aggressive if I were Atlanta in trying to do so,” Kiper Jr. said. “What if you’re sitting at eight and can’t move up? I am not taking J.J. McCarthy at eight. “It is too high for me.”
Instead, Kiper criticized Alabama football pass rusher Dallas Turner for the Falcons at number eight.
Dallas Turner had the kind of year he needed,” Kiper stated. “Will Anderson Jr. move on? Who will be the guy? Can Turner be the guy? “This year, he elevated his game.”
During the Rose Bowl game against Michigan, Turner recorded two tackles, one of which was assisted. The Alabama football standout also recorded a sack against McCarthy in the contest.
Turner declared the next day that he would be leaving Alabama football to pursue a professional career.
