BREAKING NEWS: Highly Regarded Florida Recruiting Assistant to Join Texas A&M Staff

According to reports, Joe Hamilton, Florida’s director of scouting and recruiting relations/NFL liaison, is set to take on an unnamed personnel post at Texas A&M.

Brandon Howard of Rivals was the first to disclose Hamilton’s move.

Hamilton will join former linebackers coach Jay Bateman and defensive line coach Sean Spencer as Florida assistants on Mike Elko’s debut team as Aggie head coach.

Since his arrival in Gainesville, Hamilton has established himself as one of the most renowned off-field assistants in the country, organizing a pipeline of sorts from the Lone Star State to the University of Florida.

During the Billy Napier era, the Gators have received five pledges from Texas-based talent, with Hamilton serving as a key factor in the choice of four of the athletes. His local contacts helped UF land 2024’s top quarterback prospect, DJ Lagway.

As a result, the Lewisville, Texas, native and Texas Southern alumni’s return to his home state to join the Aggies creates a significant hole in Florida’s talent acquisition department in the area.

Hamilton has worked alongside Napier at Louisiana-Lafayette since 2019, acting in a quality control role as a player personnel/recruiting assistant, and his efforts have helped the Ragin’ Cajuns post the Sun Belt’s top recruiting class three years in a row.

The highly renowned assistant accompanied the head coach on his transition to the SEC in 2022 as a personnel analyst. Prior to the 2023 season, he was promoted to assistant director of player personnel and professional liaison.

He’ll now go to Texas A&M, where he’ll be expected to take on more duty and benefit from an off-field recruiting position.

This offseason, Florida lost numerous coaches who had begun working with the team during Napier’s first year.

Hamilton joins assistant defensive line coach Kali James Jr. (Jackson State) as key members of Napier’s support staff who will pursue higher-level positions elsewhere before the 2024 season.
