BREAKING NEWS: North Carolina star QB Drake Maye Makes a Shocking Update on His Future At NFL Combine

Drake Maye, the former North Carolina Tar Heels great quarterback, will not throw at this week’s NFL Combine in Indianapolis. He’ll wait until the school’s pro day later in the pre-draft process.

The potential top-five pick remains in Indiana to participate in the NFL Draft process. He’ll conduct interviews and possibly undergo some cognitive testing.
According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Maye will also have formal interviews with ten teams during the combine.

This simply goes to demonstrate the level of hype around the likely No. 2 quarterback prospect in the whole 2024 NFL Draft. A wide range of teams are expressing interest. Some players will have little chance of landing Maye unless they trade up higher into the first round when the annual event begins in late April.

Drake Maye is slated to visit with the New York Giants, Chicago Bears, and others.
Here is a breakdown of the teams Maye is scheduled to meet with. Their first-round selection(s) are shown in parentheses.

Chicago Bears (#1 and #9)
Washington Commanders (No. 2)
New England Patriots (#3).
New York Giants (number 6)
Atlanta Falcons (No. 8)
NY Jets (#10)
Minnesota Vikings (No. 11)
Las Vegas Raiders (#13)
New Orleans Saints (No. 14)
Seattle Seahawks (No. 16)
Chicago is anticipated to select USC’s Caleb Williams first overall in the draft. If the team decides to trade down from that spot, it will either add another quarterback later in the top ten.

This puts Washington in a strong position to sign Maye if new general manager Adam Peters takes that way. However, incumbent Heisman winner Jayden Daniels of LSU must be considered for that selection.
At three, the Patriots are fielding trade offers from other teams. But it stands to reason that they will go with a quarterback to replace Mac Jones. He is expected to be traded soon.

These are the three teams that might land Maye without making a transaction before the draft.

Drake Maye numbers (2023): 63.3% completion rate, 3,608 passing yards, 449 running yards. 33 total touchdowns, 9 interceptions.
The remaining teams Maye is scheduled to meet with all require a quarterback. The most obvious examples are the Atlanta Falcons and the Las Vegas Raiders. However, Atlanta may go for the veteran trade option.
