According to ESPN’s most recent free agency estimates, the Philadelphia Eagles could be interested in a key member of the Dallas Cowboys’ offence this offseason: tailback Tony Pollard.
Moore was the offensive coordinator when the Cowboys selected Pollard in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. They worked together for four seasons, with Pollard playing a larger part each year.
Pollard is familiar with Moore’s philosophy and would bring a dual-threat skill set (he had over 3,600 rushing yards and over 1,300 receiving yards in five seasons in Dallas) that the Eagles want.
Money will be the key here. The Eagles are often hesitant to commit much to the running back position, so it’s unclear whether they’ll re-sign Swift after a good 2023 season. However, running back salaries have been depressed in recent years, and with a number of household names on the market, including Derrick Henry, Saquon Barkley, Austin Ekeler, Josh Jacobs, and D’Andre Swift, it’s possible Pollard won’t find what he’s looking for after a season (1,316 total yards, six touchdowns) that fell short of expectations as he took over the primary back role.Following a season in which they were one controversial pass interference call away from winning Super Bowl 57, the Philadelphia Eagles were stacked for 2023.
After a 10-1 start to their comeback campaign, fans in ‘The City of Brotherly Love’ quickly purchased Super Bowl 58 tickets. However, a 1-5 finish to the regular season cost Nick Siranni and co. not just their momentum but also the NFC East divisional crown. The Eagles’ downhill spiral continued in the NFC Wild Card Round, as they were overpowered from tip to finish.500 Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a 32-9 score.
