BREAKING NEWS: Texas Football Reacts to Xavier Worthy Breaking Record For Fastest 40-yard Dash t the 2024 NFL Combine, leaving Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes Stunned

Texas Longhorns wide receiver Xavier Worthy established the record for the quickest 40-yard sprint time at the NFL Combine, clocking a 4.21.

The previous record was set by former Washington Huskies receiver John Ross III in 2017 when he ran 4.22.

Worthy’s record-breaking time piqued the interest of many in the NFL, who flocked to social media to comment.
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes responded to Worthy’s first 40 time by posting ‘4.25… crazzyyyy,’ followed by many laughing emojis and the phrase’my bad 4.22.’

During his final season with the Longhorns, Worthy caught five passes for 1,014 yards and five touchdowns in 14 games.
Worthy had 197 receptions, 2,755 yards, and 26 touchdowns across his three years with the Longhorns.

Even before the 40-yard dash, he was timed at a peak speed of 22.7 mph while returning a punt for a score against Iowa State in Week 12, which was called back due to a penalty.
That statistic ended up being the fastest clocked speed of any player in college football in 2023.

It is also slightly faster than the 22.23 mph recorded by Seattle Seahawks wide receiver D.K. Metcalf against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 13.

Many projected Worthy to be a Day 2 draft pick, and the bump to his status following Saturday’s 40 will certainly secure him a spot in the second or third round.
