For years, Nick Chubb has been the driving force behind the Cleveland Browns’ offence.
The Georgia product has been one of the league’s greatest running backs by a wide margin, carrying the team on his shoulders and wreaking havoc in the backfield.
That’s why his season-ending injury in 2023 was such a devastating blow to Cleveland’s offence.
Furthermore, his was a horrible injury that could have ended most players’ careers.
Given that, doctor David Chao, a former NFL injury specialist, is skeptical of his return.
He feels Chubb will have a difficult time returning to full strength, and even if he does, he may never be the same player he was before.
Chao remarked that he thinks Chubb can beat the odds, adding that the only reason he has a chance of making a comeback is due to his talent, as other running backs would not be able to return at all.
The doctor also stated that Chubb may not be ready to make an impact early in the 2024 season, and that he may need half a season or more before becoming productive, comparing him to Baltimore Ravens star running back J.K. Dobbins, who has also suffered a multi-ligament knee injury during his time in the NFL.
This is Chubb’s second big injury, dating back to college.
Hopefully, he’ll be able to overcome the odds and return even stronger.
