The New York Yankees surely have big expectations for the 2024 season. New York is regarded as one of the best teams in the American League and could contend for the World Series crown. One of the main reasons for this was the signing of famous slugger Juan Soto. Soto will undoubtedly benefit the club greatly, and The Athletic’s Jim Bowden predicts that he will win the American League Most Valuable Player award.
“I considered picking his teammate Aaron Judge, the (Seattle Mariners’) Julio Yarnel Rodríguez, or the (Texas Rangers’) Corey Seager but went with Soto, who I think will have the best year of his career because he’ll hit in front of (or behind) Judge, he’ll benefit from hitting in the confines of Yankee Stadium, and he’ll be playing for a free-agent contract at the breakout age of 25,” Bowden said in a statement.
“My favourite long shot is Royce Lewis, who demonstrated down the stretch last season why he was the first-overall pick in 2017, showing his MVP-caliber talent by finishing with 15 home runs in only 217 at-bats and a .372 on-base percentage.” Soto is one of baseball’s top players, and now that he can hit in Yankee Stadium, he should look even better. At the end of the season, the Yankees will have much more to think about than plaudits, but members of the club are already being named as potential winners of important prizes.
