Dallas Mavericks star Luka Dončić requested a call from officials. Dončić, one of the NBA’s finest scorers, has earned a reputation for being loud with the league’s referees, especially when he believes he deserves a call. This happened during the third quarter of the Mavericks’ 114-108 win over the Miami Heat on Thursday at the American Airlines Centre. Dončić posted up Heat guard Terry Rozier and leaned into him while shooting, resulting in a whistle from the official. The Mavs star then flung his hands in the air and jokingly exclaimed, “I received a call! Yeah!”
Dončić’s sarcastic response resulted in two successful free throws. Dončić scored 35 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists on Thursday night, marking his fifth consecutive triple-double and fourth with at least 35 points scored, an NBA record. This season, Dončić leads the league with an average of 34.6 points, 9.8 assists, and 9.4 rebounds in 55 games.
