The Green Bay Packers finished the 2023 season on a high note, but there are still areas for them to improve. Cornerback is one of them.
Keisean Nixon is set to enter the open market, while Eric Stokes has been plagued by injuries for the previous two seasons. Due to knee, foot, and hamstring problems, Stokes has only played 12 games since 2022.
As they prepare for a key campaign in 2024, they cannot rely on Stokes’ availability throughout the season.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Pittsburgh Steelers are dismissing cornerback Patrick Peterson.
Packers Rumours: Green Bay Should Consider Targeting Peterson.
Despite being 33 years old, Peterson continued to play well for the Steelers in 2023. He has an excellent football IQ and still has the ability to make plays with the football in the air.
The eight-time Pro Bowl pick appeared in all 17 games last season, totaling 42 tackles, 11 pass deflections, and two interceptions. In five seasons, the LSU product has recorded 10 or more pass deflections and at least two interceptions.
With a need at cornerback, GM Brian Gutekunst should explore Peterson’s interest in coming to Titletown. Jaire Alexander is the team’s sole dependable CB coming into 2024, with the remaining positions being question marks.
Peterson’s leadership and expertise would also be valuable additions to the team. Last season, Green Bay was the league’s youngest club, with an average age of 25.7 years.
Heading into a critical offseason, the Packers must perfect their moves to boost their chances of winning the division. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Green Bay is +225 underdogs to win the NFC North. If you want to lock in these odds, go to FanDuel Sportsbook and get your sign-up bonus.
