JUST IN: Saints top Star and Favourite has seem seems to confirm exit from Saints, remembers his time in New Orleans

Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas appeared to confirm his departure from New Orleans on Saturday, remembering the city on social media and thanking the fans for their support.

“The love from saints nation has always been so authentic in reality and from the true fans,” Thomas wrote on “X,” the medium that was previously known as Twitter.

Saints Nation’s followers have always shown genuine love 🖤. However, the internet simply tries to build an agenda. Hide behind known phony pages. 💩. Stay focused on fake pages, bots, and trolls. It’s all made up. 24 hour media for clicks is the new world.
The Saints are set to release Thomas when the new league year begins next week, rather than paying for the costly second year of his contract inked with the team last offseason.

Thomas also reposted various notes and images from supporters, as well as multiple posts documenting charity work he did in New Orleans during his time with the Saints.

I used to show up at the @CovenantHouseNO unannounced and donate garbage bags of clothes to the kids. Simply pop my trunk and call the front desk. When they asked if I needed a certificate, I said no and didn’t reveal my face. Like over 30 times. I am always good in New Orleans.
I remember facilitating @sonofasaintorg a half-million-dollar grant from Jordan Brand/Nike and telling them they didn’t have to publicize it. I’ve got tremendous power. Ask them.

Thomas also remembered wonderful days in the Superdome, particularly when he played with Drew Brees and helped the Saints in the playoffs four years in a row from 2017 to 2020.

Thomas was a two-time All-Pro and the 2019 NFL Offensive Player of the Year, during which he established a league record with 149 receptions. But he battled repeated injuries and only had 95 receptions in his final four seasons with the Saints.

“It was always great to transform the Dome into one giant celebration. Not everyone can do it,” he wrote in one, and in another, “We went too far or it didn’t appear honest. #WhoDat.”
