It took D’Andre Swift just 12 minutes to accept the Bears’ contract offer.
Swift, who made his first Pro Bowl in his one season with the Eagles last year, came to terms with the Bears only minutes after the NFL’s legal tampering period began Monday at noon.
Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network was the first to break the news. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the contract is for $24.5 million over three years, with $15.3 million guaranteed.
Miles Sanders inked a four-year, $25 million contract with the Panthers only days into free agency last year.
Swift is the NFL’s ninth-highest-paid running back, with an annual salary of $8.17 million, according to Spotrac.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Eagles attempted to re-sign Swift when they retained his exclusive negotiation rights prior to the start of the legal tampering period, but Swift remained patient and obtained a deal that was significantly more than what the Eagles were likely giving.
Howie Roseman hasn’t signed a running back to a multi-year contract since LeSean McCoy in 2012, but that might change in the coming days if the Eagles reach an agreement with Saquon Barkley or another back.
