The Twins announced their second round of spring layoffs on Monday. All four roster transfers involved pitchers, three righties and one lefty.
There were four cuts:
LHP Brent Headrick
RHP Simeon Woods Richardson
RHP Matt Canterino, RHP David Festa
Headrick, Woods Richardson, and Canterino were optioned to Triple-A St. Paul, while Festa was assigned to the Twins’ minor league camp. Festa was the only one of the four players not on the Twins’ 40-man roster.
Minnesota has until March 28 to finish their 26-man roster, which includes no more than 13 pitchers. The Twins now have 46 active players in Spring Training, including ten non-roster invitees.
The roster is currently made up of:
22 pitchers (4 are non-roster)
5 catchers (2 are non-roster)
10 infielders (3 non-roster).
7 outfielders (0 non-roster).
Two utility players (one non-roster)
The Twins only have one player on the 60-day injury list.
Minnesota’s 2024 season begins March 28 in Kansas City.
