Cleveland Browns supporters are among the greatest in the NFL, and they fell in love with backup quarterback Joe Flacco last season, when he came in and started near the end of the season, helping the Browns reach the playoffs.
Cleveland Browns fans wanted Flacco back in 2024.
When the season appeared to be over, Flacco stepped in and saved the day. He was a breath of fresh air, but the Browns never considered bringing him back to the team as a backup in 2024, nor did they give him a contract.
Flacco is heading to the Colts.
On Tuesday, the Browns signed Jameis Winston, the New Orleans Saints’ backup quarterback. Many Browns supporters were disappointed that Flacco would not return to the organization, but many remained hopeful that he would not be signed. They might reconvene if a quarterback on the team is injured. Nonetheless, Joe Flacco signed to terms with the Indianapolis Colts on Wednesday, effectively ruling out the chance of his return.
Fans hailed Flacco as if he had delivered them the Super Bowl. Philadelphia won the Super Bowl in 2017-2018 with backup quarterback Nick Foles, who was obviously popular among fans. If you deliver a Super Bowl to a city that has never won one, everyone will adore you like a son, but Flacco felt the same way about Cleveland fans. He merely got them to the playoffs and couldn’t bring home a victory.
Flacco also adored Cleveland, expressing his admiration for the city and its people. He would have preferred to stay if everything was equal, but that was not the case. The Browns have no interest in him, therefore he’ll be travelling to another state and donning a Colts uniform.
Thank you for getting the Browns to the playoffs when the season appeared to be over several times. Many Cleveland fans will remember you fondly.
