Despite the fact that Deshaun Watson has been locked in as the Cleveland Browns’ starting for the 2024 season, the organization is taking steps to fortify their quarterback room.
Earlier this week, the Browns hired veteran quarterback Jameis Winston to a one-year deal as Watson’s backup. Many fans thought Cleveland’s quarterback room was complete with Watson, Winston, and Dorian Thompson-Robinson.
However, the Browns made one more move at quarterback, which will have an impact on one of their AFC North rivals in the 2024 season.
Browns News: Cleveland Bolsters QB Room with Signing of Tyler Huntley
Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot reported on Sunday that the Browns have reached an agreement with former Baltimore Ravens quarterback Tyler Huntley.
Huntley has been Lamar Jackson’s backup in Baltimore for the past three years. The 26-year-old quarterback has started nine of his 20 games.
Huntley has completed 64.6% of his throws, totaling 1,957 yards, eight touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He’s also a factor on the run, with 509 yards and three touchdowns.
With the Browns having four quarterbacks on the roster, Huntley is likely to fight with Thompson-Robinson for the third quarterback job.
Browns fans should not expect the organization to release the former UCLA quarterback this summer. If Thompson-Robinson loses the competition, he could return to the practice squad, leaving him available for other clubs to sign.
After going through many quarterbacks last season due to Watson’s injury, it’s evident that Kevin Stefanski and company want to be fully prepared for whatever comes their way in 2024.
