The New Orleans Saints have lost their first key player to free agency during the 2024 offseason.
According to Jeremy Fowler, cornerback Isaac Yiadom has signed with the San Francisco 49ers.
Yiadom played an important part in the Saints secondary last season after Marshon Lattimore was injured. Yiadom had fourteen pass breakups during his career with New Orleans.
He’s only 28 years old and would have provided valuable depth for the Saints this season if they had kept him.
Yiadom was called for only two penalties in eight starts in 2023 while allowing a 48.9% completion percentage (12th in the NFL).
The veteran also contributed to the special teams’ success. He recorded 267 ST snaps, the fifth-most on the team.
Overall, he had a breakout season, and the Saints must replace him on the depth chart at cornerback. There are still some intriguing free agent alternatives available, and the NFL Draft will be a key opportunity for the front management to add secondary talent.
