The Miami Hurricanes use the Transfer Portal to give and take.

According to 247’s Gaby Urrutia, Miami running back Henry Parrish, Jr. will use the Transfer Portal. If Parrish’s move goes through, Miami’s running back room will suffer a significant loss.

According to CFB Stats, below are Parrish’s 2023 running stats: 100 attempts for 625 yards, 6.3 average, and 6 touchdowns. The 5-foot-10, 190-pound running back would also free up running back space in transition.

Miami Hurricanes: Mark Fletcher, Jr., Branson Deen, and Jadais Richard Interviews - All Hurricanes on Sports Illustrated: News, Analysis, and More

Mark Fletcher, Jr., a rising sophomore, is recovering from a serious Lisfranc injury. Here’s the definition from OrthoInfo:
There is no certainty that Fletcher will be fully prepared for fall camp or the opening Miami game against Florida on August 31. Furthermore, the injury often results in another injury. It could be a break or something similar. Depending on the specific issue Fletcher is currently dealing with, his Lisfranc injury could be one of the most difficult for football players to recover from.

While we’re on the subject of injuries, will TreVonte’ Citizen be prepared for a demanding workload coming fall? He’s built like Fletcher. He is 6 feet 1 and weighs 220 pounds, according to the Miami athletics page. Citizen, on the other hand, has suffered lower-body ailments for the past two years.

Miami Hurricanes football's best-kept secret: Ajay Allen - The Miami Hurricane

Assuming Parrish leaves, another Cane may see his carries increase. That would be Ajay Allen, a former Nebraska running back. He’s a speedy shifty runner with decent open-field speed. Allen’s 2023 statistics include 70 carries for 361 yards, a 5.2 average, and 5 touchdowns.

Finally, the Canes have three more young running backs with plenty of promise who could help overcome the loss of any combination of Parrish, Fletcher, and Citizen. One or more of Chris Johnson, Jr., Chris Wheatley-Humphrey, and Jordan Lyle have the potential to make an immediate impact.
