DEAL HIJACK: Alabama Has Smartly Snatch Nation’s No. 2 Commitment away From UCF, Florida State, Texas A&M, and Auburn.

Darrell “Duke” Johnson, a four-star athlete, revealed his commitment to Alabama on Wednesday. After considering UCF, Florida State, Texas A&M, and Auburn, he chose Alabama.

Johnson is the 35th overall prospect and the No. 2 athlete in the 2025 class. According to the On3 industry rankings, he is Georgia’s number one athlete and seventh-ranked player.

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound athlete attends Dodge County High School in Eastman, Georgia. Last season, he was named All-Region after recording 103 tackles. Johnson was selected the Region 1-AA Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore.

Following Johnson’s commitment, Alabama’s 2025 recruiting class is ranked fifth nationally and third in the SEC. He is the Crimson Tide’s fourth commitment this month, following four-star defensive lineman Antonio Coleman, four-star athlete Zymear Smith, and four-star athlete Derick Smith.
