Pittsburgh — James Pierre, the former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback, has found a new home after signing a free agent contract.
James Pierre will be traded from the Steelers to the Washington Commanders, according to his agents, Toney Scott and Adie von Gontard of YMAPAA Sports. Financial terms have not yet been disclosed.
Pierre, who joined the Steelers as an undrafted free agent out of Florida Atlantic in 2020, has played in 66 games, six of which were starts, during four seasons in Pittsburgh. He recorded 94 total tackles, two interceptions, and eight passes defended.
Throughout his stint with the Steelers, Pierre has largely served on special teams. He was responsible for 936 special teams snaps and 727 defensive snaps.
He was an important reserve option for the Steelers, but there was little chance he would break through to win considerable playing time with Joey Porter Jr., Donte Jackson, Levi Wallace, and others ahead of him.
