DEAL AGREED: Former All-Pro linebacker Has Agreement to Sign For Dallas Cowboys Despite Huge Contract Offer With Huge Salary From San Francisco 49ers in 2024

The Dallas Cowboys have made few changes this offseason owing to financial constraints, but fortunately for them, their finest addition thus far did them a huge favour by accepting a lower salary while being offered more money by the San Francisco 49ers.

Despite owner and general manager Jerry Jones’s big talk ahead of the summer, the Cowboys salary roosters have come to roost, and the club has been hamstrung when it comes to making meaningful changes in NFL free agency. This is why they made our list of the ten worst clubs this offseason.

Eric Kendricks’ statistics (2023): 117 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 6 passes defended, and one forced fumble.
However, last week, the franchise made a smart move by signing one-time All-Pro and nine-year veteran Eric Kendricks to a one-year contract worth a relatively inexpensive $3 million. The 32-year-old has made 100 or more tackles in the last eight seasons and is a seasoned and dependable linebacker in the league.

Well, it appears that the Cowboys did not benefit from a weakened market for the one-time Pro Bowler and were instead offered a team-friendly contract by the man who played for the Los Angeles Chargers in 2023. According to ESPN Cowboys writer Todd Archer, Kendricks allegedly declined a higher-paying contract from the NFC champion San Francisco 49ers to play for Dallas in 2023.

“Call it the power of new defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer or a major difference in cost of living and taxes between Texas and northern California,” Archer said in a blog post on Thursday.
It’s been a while since the Cowboys beat the 49ers, but in this case, the force of Dallas’ defence was too much for Kendricks to pass up in free agency this month.
