HUGE BLOW: Yankees Top Dealt With Serious Set Back as key Star Withdrawn From Game As Injury Woes Continue

Anthony Rizzo joins the long line of Yankees players who have suffered injuries prior to the start of the regular season. Is it time to become concerned?

Yankees’ star scratched from game as injury woes continue.
Before the Yankees’ Spring Training game against the Mets, writer Bryan Hoch posted a message on X that caused concern among Bronx Bomber fans all over the world; first-baseman Anthony Rizzo was removed from the lineup due to an injury.

Anthony Rizzo's concussion derailed what looked to be an excellent 2023 - Pinstripe Alley

This latest injury adds to what can only be described as a “wounded march” toward the end of Spring Training for Yankees players. In recent weeks, New York has dealt with many more injuries than they would like to. Aaron Judge, Gerrit Cole, and DJ LeMahieu were all injured during the preseason, and adding their top first-baseman to that list for an extended period of time would exacerbate the situation for this title-chasing team.

So, what can Pinstripes fans hope for from their beloved lefty slugger?

Rizzo’s Opening-Day Status
Fortunately, YES clubhouse reporter Meredith Marakovits gave fans a positive update on Rizzo’s availability on Opening Day.
It’s good news for New York, as they’d miss his scorching bat in their lineup. Rizzo has been dominant in Spring Training, batting.412 with an OPS of 1.188. He has been acting as if he has something to prove, which he may believe he has.

Anthony Rizzo neck injury vs. Padres
Rizzo lost a substantial amount of time last year after suffering a concussion early in the season, and he never regained his stride again. He appears to have regained form throughout the summer, and his strong spring is a tribute to his efforts to return to All-Star level play.

He might miss the rest of Spring Training, but Yankees fans shouldn’t worry about it. Anthony Rizzo should be ready for opening day.
