After parting ways with veteran quarterback Russell Wilson recently following two lackluster seasons with the one-time Super Bowl champion at the helm, the Denver Broncos are taking a different approach at quarterback.
Although Jarrett Stidham may be the Broncos’ Week 1 starter, Denver could be one of the few teams to select a quarterback in the forthcoming 2024 NFL draft.
Unfortunately for Denver, the Broncos will have little alternatives in the next draft because the team will draft at No. 12, ahead of division foe Las Vegas Raiders at No. 13.
There could be a lot of quarterbacks taken before the Broncos pick at No. 12, but Denver still has a chance to bring in a talented rookie quarterback like Bo Nix from the University of Oregon, who recently appeared on The Herd with Colin Cowherd and discussed meeting head coach Sean Payton.
“He’s been fun to interact with and fun to get to know as well,” added Nix.
Nix is not likely to be selected in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, but he might be an early second-round pick, similar to Will Levis, who was selected by the Tennessee Titans last year.
Although the Broncos may take a chance on Nix, it is not impossible that the Raiders may try to sign him, since they will also be seeking for a talented young quarterback in the first or second rounds.
Denver will undoubtedly be a club to watch in the draft because it is unclear what the team will do, but Payton and company may decide to take a chance on a quarterback like Nix.
