Sergio Perez’s Red Bull contract does not include a Helmut Marko, Adrian Newey, or toilet roll up or down clause; it just states what is.
As Red Bull Racing developed into a power struggle earlier this year, with Christian Horner being investigated for alleged inappropriate behavior and others rumored to be profiting from it, information concerning Max Verstappen’s contract were disclosed.
There are no Helmut Marko provisions buried in Sergio Perez’s contract
Backing the motorsport advisor in a ‘he stays, I remain’ ultimatum, PlanetF1.com’s Thomas Maher understood that Verstappen’s contract included a clause that permitted him to quit if Marko’s tenure ended.
According to Maher, this was done without the knowledge of Horner or other senior members of the parent company, which was possible due to Marko’s status as a director of Red Bull Racing.
It is the second notable stipulation in a Red Bull contract, following allegations that design mastermind Adrian Newey’s contract is related to Horner’s.
Perez, on the other hand, has only his results to rely on, with the Mexican driver disclosing that he has no such clause in place with Marko, Newey8, or anyone.
“I don’t have such a clause,” he stated to Motorsport.com.
When asked about Verstappen’s Marko clause, he replied, “I’m not sure what terms Max has in his contract; you’ll have to ask him.
“He still has a contract with the team and is completely committed. I won’t say anything about the remainder because it isn’t my business.I don’t see the sense in discussing other drivers if we don’t know the facts. That is likewise the situation here.
Perez’s future is instead determined by his performance on the track. “I fully concentrate on achieving good results, that is my job,” he told reporters.
But, according to former Ferrari team manager Peter Windsor, Perez does not have to worry about a provision.
After all, he’s already signed with Red Bull until 2025.
Sergio’s contract for next year has already been renewed, according to several reputable sources in the paddock.
“In this case, you’d ask, ‘What was the rush? Similar to Lando re-signing for McLaren, a long-term deal, what was the rush? You could say the same thing about Red Bull and Sergio Perez.
“If that’s the case, then that door is obviously closed for Carlos Sainz.”
