Emmanuel Henderson had some time to mature, but he is finally ready to show college football what he has.
Henderson was undoubtedly the most explosive athlete and running back in the country for the 2022 season. He arrived to the University of Alabama as a four-star recruit from Geneva County High School in Hartford, Alabama. Henderson excelled in football, basketball, and track & field, ultimately picking Alabama over Auburn, Clemson, and Georgia. Under Nick Saban, he moved from running back to wide receiver and appeared in 21 games.
Henderson has served at receiver and on special teams, assisting the Tide to a Southeastern Conference Championship last season. The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder is more than capable of being an impact player, and his time has finally come.
On Tuesday after practice, Alabama reporters had the opportunity to hear the Tide’s wide receivers coach praise Henderson in an interview with JaMarcus Shephard.
Shephard believes the in-state product is in an environment where he can shine.
“That boy can run, E-Man can run,” Shephard said of Henderson. “His ability to reduce his weight and get in and out of breaks has greatly increased. With his football knowledge, he has proven to be a reliable source of insight into our decisions. So far, I’ve been quite impressed with him. He has fulfilled all of my expectations.”
Henderson can accomplish a lot for Alabama.
He can move the ball as a running back, be a receiver with precise routes, or give explosive skills on special teams.
Henderson was on track to be a punt returner last season before suffering a hip injury during fall camp.
With Jalen Hale out due to a knee injury, he will need to step up.
