The former Oregon Duck was undrafted by the New Orleans Saints in the 2020 NFL Draft. He spent his rookie year on the practice squad, but he went on to play in all 17 games in 2021, including 14 starts under Sean Payton. He would play with the Saints until 2023, then for the Panthers and Titans before signing with the Broncos.
He is a seasoned lineman who has featured in 46 career games and started 27 of them, including seven for the Panthers last season. He now brings some experience and depth to the Broncos’ offensive line.
Throckmorton joins Quinn Bailey, Will Sherman, Alex Forsyth, and Luke Wattenberg on the Broncos’ backup interior offensive line. Wattenberg and Forysth are now competing for the starting center position, with the other most likely serving as the team’s versatile backup. Throckmorton will most likely compete alongside Quinn Bailey, who the Broncos re-signed this offseason, Will Sherman, and undrafted free agents.
Throckmorton’s experience with Sean Payton undoubtedly provides him an advantage over his competitors, but we’ll see how he performs during the offseason, training camp, and preseason.
