With the loss of Jadeveon Clowney, the Baltimore Ravens are trying to improve their defense; may they target Marshon Lattimore?
Bleacher Report proposed a trade in which the Ravens would acquire cornerback Marshon Lattimore to boost their secondary. This move is intended to fill the vacuum left by Clowney’s departure to the Carolina Panthers.
The possibility is not too farfetched. Lattimore has a stellar history, including four Pro Bowl selections and Defensive Rookie of the Year accolades in 2017. However, injuries create serious concerns. He appeared in only seven games in 2022 and ten in 2023. Over the last two seasons, he has only two interceptions and 12 passes defended, compared to at least two interceptions and 11 passes defended in four of the previous five years.
Lattimore’s deal has only one year of guaranteed money remaining, which is a plus for Baltimore but a disadvantage for the New Orleans Saints. This decreases the risk of giving up an early or mid-round choice in a deal. Baltimore’s current picks are as follows:
Rd. 1, Pick No. 30 – Ravens’ own selection
Rd. 2, Pick No. 62 – Ravens’ own selection
Rd. 3, Pick No. 93 – Ravens’ own selection
Round 4, Pick No. 113 – From New York Jets for OT Morgan Moses exchange
Rd. 4, Pick No. 130 – Ravens’ own selection
Rd. 5, Pick No. 165 – Ravens’ own selection
We know Baltimore is unlikely to give away the first or second round picks, but the Saints may (hypothetically) negotiate for the third round pick based on their earlier selections. At best, the Ravens give away their fourth-round pick to the Saints. With no third or fourth round picks, this option would help New Orleans bridge the gap to the fifth round, where they have four picks.
Round 1: Pick 14. Round 2: Pick 45 (from Denver).
Round 5: Pick 149
Round 5, Pick 167 (Compensatory Pick)
Round 5, Pick 169 (Compensatory Pick)
Round 5, Pick 174 (Compensatory Pick)
Round 6: Picks 189 and 198 (both from Philadelphia).
Round 7: Pick 239 (from Denver).
Do you see the Saints utilizing Lattimore? Would a deal to Baltimore be a good one if the negotiated round pick is valuable? Please let us know in the comments below.
