After a few quiet weeks, the New Orleans Saints returned to free agency to add their second linebacker this cycle.
The Saints have signed former Washington Commanders linebacker Khaleke Hudson to a one-year contract, according to a league source. NFL Media was the first to report the news.
Hudson is coming off a great year for the Commanders, who selected him from Michigan in the fifth round of the 2020 draft. He posted career highs across the board in Washington last year, starting eight games and recording 74 tackles and two pass breakups.
However, his most significant impact as an NFL player has been on special teams, which held true even after he was promoted to the starting lineup last season.
Hudson played at least 73% of the Commanders’ special teams snaps during his first four professional seasons.
New Orleans has now signed two linebackers to the team via free agency, with Hudson joining former Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Will Gay.
